Strengthening Hope
“I will.... transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope” - The prophet Hosea
We are often asked what our motivation is for offering programs in schools and the best answer I can give is "with knowledge comes responsibility". The easy option is to avoid the knowledge. Growing statistical evidence points to a sense of hopelessness in our young people. Often these young people have what money could buy them: phones, treats, ipods... yet so many are broken in spirit. It is even more impossible to ignore the pain when it has a face attached to it. These children are our children and they live in our neighbourhood and sit in our schools.
We have to find ways to teach them vital life skills which will strengthen their hope. Our strategy is to offer programs in grade 6, 8 and 10 which will lavish value upon them, build ongoing relationship and reinforce the message at crucial intervals in maturity and transition.
