Young Aussie officially took over the Kingsholme property, set in the beautiful Derwent Valley at Ellendale Tasmania, on 1 November 2005.
It is important to recognize the amazing work done by Mr Reg Chopping and his wife Athlene and the previous Board of Kingsholme For Healing Inc. The foundation and infrastructure laid by this organisation not only blessed countless numbers of people during it's many years of operation but also facilitated the transfer and establishment of a new vision for the renamed 'Kingsholme Community' given to Young Aussie.
KINGSHOLME COMMUNITY - a new vision (Psalm 126)
As part of the new vision God's leading is that the property be used by Young Aussie for the restoration and rehabilitation for the young people of this nation and subsequently their families.
Psalm 126 is a foundational scripture for this new direction.
Our society is characterized by humanistic individualism. Young people are being alienated, cast off and abused as people seek pleasure and fulfillment in individual, material and sensual pleasures. Their vision extends no further than their own welfare. Young people are being denied the opportunity to dream- to really understand their destiny.
God wants to set the captives free. To bring them to the point where they really understand their destiny in God. That they are fearfully and wonderfully made. That they are not hopeless but hopeful.
Verse 2 Instead of despair there will be joy.
Verse 3 As they begin to walk in their destiny they will declare "the Lord has done great things" They will be sent out. They will be the workers in the harvest field. They will be the sowers of seed.
Verse 6 They will be passionate about their calling and the harvest will be abundant!
Young Aussie has always recognized that we are co-dependant according to God's plan. We are born into families, our families are part of a community and our communities come together as nations - nations as global communities.
Our ministry to young people recognizes this co-dependency and builds young people back into families, our families into their community. Kingsholme Community is being established to allow people to experience positive role modeling in individual, family and community relationships.
Practical Implementation
- Establish a caretaker team to bring the property back to its previous glory.
- Audit the property
- Establish a management team, prayer support and physical workers to join the community

Since November 2005 God has sent in a dedicated team of workers to carry out restoration and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. The property still needs work but it now boasts comfortable accommodation for 80 people, leaders accommodation, an upgraded dining hall and four of the five houses on the property restored with the remaining one to be started in February 07. The property of almost 200 acres has tranquil walks and a beautiful lake stocked with rainbow trout and cheeky platypus that are frequently seen close to shore. Seminars and camps have been successfully run on a monthly basis and more are planned, see our current newsletter.
Our full time Site manager Mrs. Sophie Mcgregor and her team of volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that everyone is comfortable , warm and well fed.
